Duties:
  • Reports to the Director of Academic Support Services
  • Library Aide duties include circulation desk functions (interacting with patrons, checking books, inter-library loan, shelving, holds, managing reserves, etc.).
  • Library aides also help students, staff and classes with use of college library resources such as searching for print material and utilizing electronic library resources and online research databases
  • Assist students and staff with general computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, Internet resources, navigating online courses, scanning and printing
  • Answer telephone calls, assist with record keeping and scheduling tutor appointments, maintain an organized and clean facility.
  • Light housekeeping duties required.

  • This position requires the desire to work in a challenging and diverse academic environment.
  • The ability to work effectively with people of widely varying skills and abilities is essential as is a strong commitment to customer service.
  • A desire to learn new skills continually and a general enthusiasm for education is a must.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift fifty pounds, and the ability to spend considerable time standing and walking.

 

Credentials and Experience

  • Associate Degree or higher
  • Basic knowledge of computer and office hardware is required (computers, printers, scanners, copiers, projectors, etc.).
  • Also required are basic skills in popularly used software applications (especially MS Office, Google applications, and the Internet).
  • Experience working in a library, school or academic environment is preferred.
  • Foreign language skills are a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
